Newwhere Lands | 新世界
1CM is delighted to announce our first graphic design show in 2021 by Theresa Meiying Liu: Newhere Lands This solo exhibition of Theresa Liu will be on view from Feb 1st to March 21st. Theresa works primarily with graphic design, including motion graphic design, books, and poster design. During the exhibition, the virtual space of 1CM Gallery will be turned into a glowing wavelength by her past design projects.
“Newhere Lands is an on-going investigation amongst souvenirs, coat of arms/flags, and nationalism. The thesis uses subversion as a device to reimagine symbolism in a form of an object (souvenir).”
Artist Bio | 艺术家介绍
Theresa Meiying Liu is a Chinese-American, born and raised in Los Angeles. She received her BFA in 2013 at Otis College of Art and Design. In 2019, she received her MFA in Graphic Design at ArtCenter College of Design She also studied MFA at Yale University in 2017. Theresa’s work was collected by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Liu’s primary points of interest are sociopolitical theory, anthropology, cultural identity, and urban studies. Her work is influenced by her cultural identity and the environment that surrounds her.
